Potatoes Africa is an independent publication covering the African potato value chain for a global audience. From seed systems and production to processing, trade, policy, climate and finance, we report on the people, companies and decisions shaping one of the continent's most important food and commercial crops.
Our coverage spans the major producing and trading markets across North, East, Southern and West Africa, with reporting aimed at the operators, processors, investors, suppliers and policymakers who work across the sector.
We are editorially independent. We accept advertising and sponsored content to support our work, and we always label it clearly. Sponsorship never shapes our reporting.
Potatoes Africa launched in 2026, started by a small group of editors and correspondents who kept running into the same blind spot: a crop feeding cities, supplying processors and drawing fresh investment across Africa — yet with no publication dedicated to covering it seriously. We exist to change that. Our mission is to be the clearest, most reliable window into the African potato economy: to make a fragmented, fast-moving industry legible to the people who work in it, and to report it with rigour and independence, wherever the story leads.
